I incorporate Islamic teachings into each lesson by connecting our topics to Quranic values and starting the day with a du’a or story from the life of Prophet Mohammed pbuh during circle time.

One of my favorite books is Secrets of Divine Love by A. Helwa. I love how it explains deep Islamic concepts in such a gentle, relatable way.

Hobbies/Interests

I enjoy bike riding with my family, exploring new trails, and spending time outdoors. I also love teaching community fitness classes and discovering creative ways to make movement fun for all ages.

How do you Incorporate Islam into Your Teaching:

I remind students that caring for our bodies is an amanah (trust) from Allah, and physical fitness is part of our deen. I weave values like honesty, teamwork, respect, and helping others into activities, so students grow in both physical ability and good character

Nusaybah bint Ka’ab (RA) inspires me for her courage, physical strength, and unwavering faith. She stood fearlessly to protect the Prophet ﷺ during the Battle of Uhud, enduring multiple wounds yet never leaving her position. Her example reminds me that true strength is using our skills and abilities in service to others, with dedication, discipline, and trust in Allah.

“Don’t Be Sad” by Dr. Aidh al-Qarni, a beautiful reminder that patience, gratitude, and trust in Allah are the keys to a peaceful heart.

How do you Incorporate Islam into Your Teaching:

In my classroom, I strive to embody the values of a good Muslim role model for my students through kindness, patience, and respect. Each morning, I personally greet every child by name with salam as they enter, creating a welcoming and loving environment. I encourage the students to take turns leading the class in a short dua of their choice, allowing them to express their thoughts and wishes in a meaningful way. Throughout our lessons, I want to weave in connections to the life/characteristics of the Prophet ﷺ and the teachings of Allah ﷻ, helping students see how our faith guides us in every aspect of learning and life.

An Islamic figure who inspires me is Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA), the second Khalifa of Islam. He was deeply honest and fair, always striving to understand people and their needs. Even as a leader, he worked hard alongside the community, personally checking on others and making sure everyone was treated with justice and kindness. His example encourages me to lead with integrity, to listen with empathy, and to put in my best effort in everything I do

I have a deep love for reading Islamic books, especially those that help me know Allah (SWT) better, study the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, learn about the lives of the Sahabah and Sahabiyat, and reflect on the beautiful stories of the Qur’an and all the prophets.

I also enjoy reciting the Qur’an with Tajweed and reflecting on its meanings.

Outside of reading, I love creative activities such as drawing, painting, and Islamic calligraphy, as well as spending time in nature — hiking, walking, or simply enjoying fresh air. Most of all, I cherish spending quality time with my family, playing with my children, and creating joyful moments together.

These interests inspire me to bring creativity, meaningful stories, and a sense of warmth to every learning experience, helping students feel engaged and connected to the Arabic language.

How do you Incorporate Islam into Your Teaching:

In shaa Allah, I will take opportunities to connect lessons to our faith. I plan to teach students the meanings of some of Allah’s beautiful names, as well as the noble qualities of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the Sahabah.

These short, meaningful reminders will be woven into the learning process so that, alongside building their Arabic skills, students also grow in love for Allah, His Messenger, and the values of Islam.

One of the figures who inspires me most is Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. His mercy, patience, wisdom, and dedication to spreading the message of Islam are qualities I deeply admire and strive to reflect in my own life.

I am also inspired by the Sahabah and Sahabiyat, whose love for Allah and sacrifice for the deen remind me of the importance of sincerity and perseverance. Their examples motivate me to teach with kindness, compassion, and a sincere desire to benefit others, in shaa Allah.

Some of the Islamic books that have deeply touched me and continue to inspire my spiritual journey include:

حسن الظن بالله (Having Good Expectations of Allah), أعمال القلوب (The Deeds of the Heart), أول مرة أتدبر القرآن (My First Reflection on the Qur’an), and القرآن تدبر وعمل (Contemplation and Action in the Qur’an).

I am truly excited to begin this journey of learning Arabic together, in shaa Allah. My hope is that every student feels inspired and supported as they explore the language and its beautiful connection to our faith. With patience, kindness, and creativity, I aim to create a welcoming environment where students can build strong foundations, understand the Qur’an more deeply, and develop a lifelong love for learning.

I strive to integrate Islam organically into my teaching, connecting faith with learning in natural and meaningful ways. In science, I encourage awe at Allah’s creations.

As a Quranic Studies teacher, every day involves connecting with the Quran in a meaningful way. Helping my students connect with their Creator through the tafseer of surahs to understand the lessons and stories in the Quran is one of my biggest priorities.

Asiya (ra), the wife of Firaun, for her unwavering commitment to Islam even when living with Firaun, who was a tyrant. I am inspired by her eloquent dua which is mentioned in the Quran (66:11)

How do you Incorporate Islam into Your Teaching:

I begin each day by greeting my students with a warm smile and saying Assalamu Aleykum at the door, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere as they enter the classroom.

During circle time, we begin by thanking Allah for another beautiful day by saying Alhamdulillah. I also try to incorporate daily duas, such as those before and after eating, and when entering the bathroom. In addition, we spend time each day reading stories about the Prophets and the Sahabah to help children learn important lessons and values in an Islamic way.
